As your constituent, I urge you to protect our food from toxic chemicals by supporting the Food Chemical Reassessment Act of 2021.
Right now, the FDA does not systematically review its past approvals of food packaging and processing chemicals based on the current evidence. As a result, harmful chemicals continue to appear on grocery store shelves.
For example, TBHQ, a food preservative that could harm the immune system, is still used to prolong the shelf life of Pop-Tarts, Rice Krispies Treats, Cheez-Its, and other popular snacks enjoyed by American families
By passing this bill, you will require the FDA to fulfill its duties to protect our food supply and help ensure our food is safe to eat. Please put the safety of American families first and pass this much-needed piece of legislation.
